This trap works great. The only thing is, I had to file the edges smooth (along the spring movement) because fresh out of the box it did not snap shut when tripped. Basically, it is the same filing you'd have to do over time to compensate for rusting or age. It is a solid little trap and well worth the price. I am totally glad I got it.

This trap is better suited for smaller mammals as listed; I purchased to trap nutria that have infested farm ponds, but I didn't realize how big the nutria were and under-sized the trap. While I'm confident this is an excellent trap for squirrels, gophers or even small muskrat, a 30lb Nutria can escape this trap.



I would recommend sizing the trap up to catch nutria. I highly recomment the #1.75 coil spring offset trap. It can catch large nutria and hold them. Also, action worked fine submerged under water.

This trap is a great trap for trapping squirrels in an attic. Just place the trap against the hole they are using to get in the attic and when they come out of the hole it gets them.

I trapped several Muskrats with this trap it was very great and easy to set
