Little Giant 3 Gallon Waterer With Metal Handle
August 19, 2016
I gave the 3 gallon waterer one star because I couldn't give it a zero. I've had multiple styles of waterers and have made several of my own. I purchased this since I had an immediate need and the price was quite reasonable and it seemed appropriate for baby chicks. I should have gone with my instincts and purchased something else. This item should be taken off the market. It's not worth $5.00 plus free shipping! First issue, it needs to be turned upside down to fill-it. That should tell you something. Secondly, the base is very difficult to attach. However, the most annoying is the gates that allow the water to flow from the container are too small; leaving very little water to flow into the trough giving a very limited and frequently stoppable flow of water. I did improve the flow of water in this unit by taking a very sharp blade and enlarging one of the gates. This solved the water flow problem. Now I working on how to fill it from the tip! I have four Little Giant Plastic Poultry waterers - two three gallon and two five gallon. The plastic containers on these units are extremely durable and the trays can be replaced when they crack; which they will do. I decided to use one of these units with the chicks by placing large marbles in the tray area where the chicks get their drink. Otherwise, the chicks want to get into the tray. Not a good thing! When I get the next batch of chicks, I'm going back to nipple waterers! Hope this review helps someone save money by not purchasing the unit covered by the review.

It is a bit hard to fill and make sure you line up the bottom with the container while the whole thing is upside down. Otherwise the unit is great.

Little Giant 3 gallon Plastic Poultry Waterer

I bought two of these waterers a couple of weeks ago, and as stated by others, had trouble finding out why it wouldnt deliver water........If you look at the "close" "open" instructions on the vessel, you will realize they are totally backwards...if you close it in the "open" direction, the water outlet will line up correctly, if you close it in the close direction, the water outlet hole will be blocked......anyway, it works, now better that it did....heh heh heh more complaints at this time..............

I like that it last almost a week. Water does get dirty and the bottom is kind of a pain to get on and off everytime. Had for a few months now and working better then alternative.

This product doesn't work as well as I had hoped. I thought the open/close method would be good, but it's not what I expected. Two of the times that I filled it up, I turned it over to put it down and the bottom fell off - causing my legs and feet to get soaked. The water also doesn't fill the bottom as high as it should. This product is ok, if you have patience.

Item works great. If you twist the bottom one way, it closes. Makes it easy to move from point A to point B without spilling the water. Twist the other way and it opens up.

Everything is great exept it is very hard to line up the hole on the base with the top to let the water flow freely.
